Jurassic World Rebirth Almost Killed Off [Spoiler] in Movie’s Finale

The original ending to Jurassic World Rebirth killed off a major character.

In U.S. cinemas now is Universal Pictures’ “Jurassic World: Dominion,” helmed by director Gareth Edwards. The film features Scarlett Johansson in the role of Zora Bennett, Mahershala Ali portrays Duncan Kincaid, Jonathan Bailey takes on Dr. Henry Loomis, and Rupert Friend plays Martin Krebs.

Who was almost killed during the finale of Jurassic World Rebirth?

In the final scenes of the film, it was Edwards who ultimately decided to end Ali’s character.

Initially, the character seemed destined to die, but when Mahershala Ali got involved, he suggested changing it so his character could meet an untimely end instead. So, I revised the script accordingly, switching the character’s fate from living to dying.

In other words, Edwards shared that the production team requested him to shoot alternate endings for the movie – one in which Ali’s character survives, and another where his character perishes.

He added, “During post-production and the creation of the director’s cut, I distributed the version where his character perished. It turned out well, but the studio requested, ‘What if we also have the one where he survives?’ Since we hadn’t assembled that version yet, we went back and made the necessary edits. The consensus was overwhelmingly in favor of him surviving. We conducted two trial screenings, and the audience responded much more positively to his survival.

My uncertainty about it persisted until the screening in New York. When this flare appeared, showing he’d lived, a huge applause erupted, and I found myself getting a bit emotional, with a tear threatening to fall. Kudos to the studio for insisting on that additional scene. I’m grateful they did so because I believe it’s the most impactful part of the movie.
