Superman: David Corenswet Reveals What Henry Cavill Told Him

Recently, David Corenswet shared insights on discussions he had with two earlier actors who embodied the role of Superman, and the guidance they offered him about portraying this legendary character.

What advice was Superman’s David Corenswet given?

During an interview with Irish radio station Beat 102 103, Corenswet shared that he had reached out to Henry Cavill and Tyler Hoechlin – both of whom have portrayed Superman previously – for any guidance. Yet, Corenswet mentioned that the actors chose not to offer advice, embodying the selfless nature of the iconic superhero, Superman.

In an intriguing twist, they both essentially conveyed, ‘I won’t offer you any guidance,’ which, in my opinion, reflects the character of Superman quite well. Unlike Superman, he’s not inclined to dispense advice or dictate others’ actions. (Cowenswet’s statement)

Although they didn’t offer specific guidance, Corenswet shared that the pair had been supportive of him during his performance, and he looks forward to the possibility of meeting them someday.

Corenswet expressed that they communicated an enthusiasm and a hint of ‘enjoy yourself’, which seems similar to Superman’s approach, he said. They were very supportive, and it was a delightful interaction. I’m looking forward to meeting them someday. It will be wonderful when we can all gather together in the same place.

The first feature film of DC Studios’ iconic character, Superman, is all set to take flight globally this summer through Warner Bros. Pictures, as stated in the official synopsis. In a unique twist, James Gunn reinterprets the original superhero within the new DC universe, combining action, wit, and emotion effectively. This portrayal of Superman showcases a character moved by empathy and faith in human kindness.

In this production, alongside David Corenswet and Rachel Brosnahan, we have Isabela Merced portraying Hawkgirl, Edi Gathegi as Mister Terrific, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner, Anthony Carrigan as Metamorpho, María Gabriela de Faría as The Engineer, Sara Sampaio as Eve Teschmacher, Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen, Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor, Terence Rosemore as Otis, Wendell Pierce as Perry White, Pruitt Taylor Vince as Jonathan Kent, Neva Howell as Martha Kent, Beck Bennett as Steve Lombard, Mikaela Hoover as Cat Grant, and Christopher McDonald as Ron Troupe.

Superman is set to premiere in theaters on July 11, 2025.
