Fans of Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes series are still eagerly awaiting news on a potential third installment, but Jared Harris, who portrayed Professor James Moriarty in the second film, has recently shared some less than encouraging news about Sherlock Holmes 3. In a recent conversation, this British actor hinted that he’s yet to receive any updates regarding the highly anticipated sequel, suggesting that the project might still be on hold.
Jared Harris doesn’t want people to ask him about Sherlock Holmes 3
In a recent chat with The Direct, Harris mentioned that so far, he hasn’t received any proposals regarding Sherlock Holmes 3, which stars Robert Downey Jr., in the third installment of the film series.
When asked about the current status of the project, the actor from Chernobyl playfully mentioned that he frequently edits the IMDb entry for Sherlock Holmes 3 to dampen the rumors swirling around it. “Well, I guess I remove it [from IMDb], and then someone replaces it,” the 63-year-old humorously explained.
After that, Harris mentioned he’s unaware of any plans for Guy Ritchie’s Sherlock Holmes 3, since he assumes they are in place. He even requested fans to cease inquiring about the production, expressing, “I don’t know. No one has been discussing it with me. Honestly, I wish people would stop asking… It should be out there, but as far as I’m concerned, no one’s talking to me about it, and I have absolutely no idea.
2011’s Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows featured Jared Harris portraying the sinister James Moriarty. In this movie, his character met the titular detective, played by Robert Downey Jr., after Downey’s character thwarted Moriarty’s plans. Towards the end of the film, it appeared that both characters plunged to their deaths in a dramatic climax. However, the final scenes unveiled that Sherlock Holmes had somehow managed to survive the encounter.
Although there’s sufficient artistic flexibility for a Sherlock Holmes 3 following the events of A Game of Shadows, Warner Bros. hasn’t provided any new information about the movie lately.
