A playful conversation between Jonathan Bailey and Mahershala Ali has sparked further discussions about potential Marvel roles. During an appearance on Vogue’s Off the Cuff series alongside Jurassic World Rebirth co-stars, Mahershala Ali and Scarlett Johansson, Bailey was queried to identify the Marvel movies each of them featured in.
As a devoted Marvel fan, I’ve often been linked to the Blade reboot rumors, but when asked about it directly, I diplomatically stepped back with a chuckle, saying, “Count me out. That’s Scarlett’s domain.” To which Bailey responded, “Oh, we’re definitely intrigued by that one!
Back in 2019, Ali was first announced as the new Blade character at San Diego Comic-Con. However, since then, the movie has experienced numerous setbacks such as delays, director changes, script revisions, and scheduling issues. So far, his only appearance within the Marvel Cinematic Universe is a brief voice role in the Eternals’ post-credits scene.
In the process, Bailey and Ali found it challenging to compile a complete list of films featuring Johansson in the MCU. Bailey’s suggestions ranged from “Captain America 1 and 2,” “Avengers movies 1 through 5,” and “Black Widow 1.” Johansson then playfully quizzed Ali, saying, “And you, Mahershala? What about you?” However, Ali decided to overlook the question.
Earlier, Ali spoke more openly about the delays with Blade. During the premiere of Jurassic World Rebirth in New York, he told The Hollywood Reporter that he’s handling things “one day at a time” when asked about the topic. Regarding Blade, he expressed his desire for it to happen but wasn’t sure about Marvel’s current plans. He further mentioned, “I’m eager for Blade; we’ll see, I’m unsure where Marvel is right now. I’m simply searching for the next fantastic role, and I truly am.” Additionally, he revealed that working on Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother helped him satisfy his craving for action scenes.
