Director Dan Trachtenberg of the film “Badlands: Predator” has at last discussed the hidden Alien reference subtly hinted in the trailer for the latest addition to 20th Century Studios’ renowned sci-fi series. The movie is set to hit theaters on November 7, 2025.
In the newest trailer for Predator: Badlands, an unexpected emblem from a well-known tech conglomerate was glimpsed via the android character, played by Elle Fanning. This particular company is the Weyland-Yutani corporation, recognized as the sinister technology provider from the Alien series.

In a recent conversation with Empire, Trachtenberg shared his reasoning for incorporating an Alien reference in Predator: Badlands. He admitted that he could not resist the chance to do so because it perfectly aligned with Fanning’s character being an android robot.

Furthermore, the filmmaker gave a hint about the relationship between the two primary characters of the upcoming movie – a young outcast Predator named Dek and an android character called Thia.
Trachtenberg playfully described them as an unusual duo. One is chatty while the other is reserved. Despite the film’s action-packed and intense nature, the characters’ dynamics also shine brilliantly.
The film is helmed by director Trachtenberg, who collaborated with Patrick Aison on the script and drew inspiration from the characters created by Jim Thomas and John Thomas. Elle Fanning portrays Thia, a young android, while Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi takes on the role of Dek. The production team includes John Davis, Marc Toberoff, Ben Rosenblatt, and Brent O’Connor.
