Connections Help, Hints & Clues for Today, July 2

Today we’re back with the July 2, 2025 edition of the NYT’s “Connections“! Yesterday’s puzzle had clues centered around theft, pet grooming, the blissful sensation post-grooming, and a frequently used prefix for “stone.” These hints were rather straightforward, but keep in mind that not every day will be a breeze, and tomorrow’s game could prove more challenging than usual.

So, let’s get started by exploring the clues and answers for today’s game of Connections.

Connections hint for July 2

The following are the clues for the NYT Connections puzzle from July 2, 2025. Today’s sixteen words are: Copy, Juniper, Mobile, Dreams, Freshwater, ID, Sophocles, Bootleg, Seneca, Replica, Slip (as in a shoe), Shirt, Fake (counterfeit), Oedipus, Pain, and Rex (a name for a king or dog).

In Connections, the gameplay varies significantly from Wordle, crosswords, and Strands. Here, you are tasked with grouping sixteen words based on a shared characteristic that you must identify through deduction.

  • Yellow group – This is not real
  • Green group – Related to a popular psychoanalysis theory by a neurologist
  • Blue group – Just add a common letter before these words
  • Purple group – Connected with schooling

Today’s match served as a mental workout once again. The initial round was relatively simple because participants merely had to guess terms related to deceit. Furthermore, the Green team posed some difficulties, particularly for those unfamiliar with Sigmund Freud’s psychoanalytic theory. Regular players might have found it easier. The third group appeared straightforward as it involved identifying common words following the letter “T.” However, the Purple group turned out to be quite tough, especially after the relatively simpler hints in the previous three games.

That’s all for today! Do come back tomorrow to play another game of Connections.
