Netflix recently unveiled the official trailer for their upcoming romantic comedy, “My Oxford Year,” starring Sofia Carson (from “Purple Hearts”) and Corey Mylchreest (known for “Queen Charlotte”). This heartwarming film is set to premiere on our screens on August 1.

One day, a determined young American named Anna embarks on a journey to Oxford University, following a cherished dream from her past. However, everything seems to be going smoothly for her until she crosses paths with an engaging and intelligent local individual, whose presence significantly changes not only their lives but also the course they were originally set on.

What happens in the My Oxford Year trailer?

The video presents Carson as a youthful New York City resident embarking on her academic journey at Oxford University. Here, she crosses paths with an appealing professor, setting the stage for their love tale. The preview offers a sneak peek into their romance, from its inception to the hurdles they will encounter. Alongside Carson, the cast features Dougray Scott, Catherine McCormack, Harry Trevaldwyn, Esmé Kingdom, Nikhil Parmar, Poppy Gilbert, Romina Cocca, Yadier Fernández, Nia Anisah, and Hugh Coles.

My Oxford Year

Overview: This movie is skillfully directed by BAFTA winner Iain Morris (famously known for “The Inbetweeners”), from a screenplay penned by Allison Burnett and Melissa Osborne, inspired by Julia Whelan’s 2018 novel. The production is overseen by Laura Quicksilver and George Berman, with Caroline Levy serving as executive producer. This film is a creation of Temple Hill Entertainment.

Carson has recently teamed up with Netflix again, following his roles in the 2020 dance comedy Feel the Beat and the 2022 romance drama Purple Hearts. You might remember him from Netflix movies like Carry On and The Life List. As for Mylchreest, he gained notice last year for his lead role in the Bridgerton prequel miniseries Queen Charlotte, where he portrayed young King George III. His upcoming movie, My Oxford Year, will be Mylchreest’s first full-length acting appearance on the big screen.
