The reviews for Jurassic World: Reborn have been released, and this newest installment of the iconic dinosaur series has earned the third-best rating, even though it’s generally received unfavorable responses.
What are the Jurassic World Rebirth reviews saying?
On Rotten Tomatoes, the premiere of Jurassic World: Rebirth received a score of 57%, according to their aggregating platform. Although this figure seems negative for the movie, it’s actually the third-best rating in the franchise, surpassed only by the original 1993 film (91%) and Jurassic World (2015) with a score of 72%.
According to Nick Schager from The Daily Beast, the movie is just a stylish copycat without any significant value other than benefiting its makers financially. Similarly, Derek Smith at Slant Magazine found the film irritatingly self-referential, while Christy Lemire of Roger Ebert’s team thought the movie could be enjoyable, but it requires quite an effort to get there due to its lengthy and tedious parts.
Although the film garnered mostly negative scores, it wasn’t universally panned. In our assessment, Jonathan Sim found enjoyment despite a weak narrative and character development, commending its striking visual style and breathtaking special effects. Similarly, Liz Shannon Miller of Consequence praised the film, dubbing it as “one of the best Jurassic movies ever made,” although she acknowledged that the benchmark might not be particularly high.
Titled “Jurassic World: Renaissance,” this upcoming film is helmed by director Gareth Edwards, with a screenplay penned by David Koepp, inspired by the characters conceived by Michael Crichton. The principal cast includes Academy Award nominee Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey from “Bridgerton,” and Academy Award winner Mahershala Ali (from “Moonlight”). Additionally featured are Rupert Friend (“Homeland”), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (“The Lincoln Lawyer”), Luna Blaise (“Manifest”), David Iacono (“The Summer I Turned Pretty”), Audrina Miranda (“Lopez vs. Lopez”), Philippine Velge (“Station Eleven”), Bechir Sylvain (“BMF”), and Ed Skrein (“Deadpool”).
Five years following the chaos of Jurassic World Dominion, our planet has shown itself largely unsuitable for dinosaurs, with survivors confined to equatorial regions boasting climates akin to their ancient habitats. In this tropical sanctuary, three gigantic beasts hold the secret to a groundbreaking drug that could offer extraordinary lifesaving advantages to humanity. That’s what the movie’s official summary tells us.
