Devil Wears Prada 2 Cast Sets Returning & New Actors as Filming Begins

The Devil Wears Prada 2 has received an exciting update.

Back in 2006, I found myself immersed in a captivating comedy-drama titled “The Devil Wears Prada.” This gem was masterfully directed by David Frankel. The storyline is adapted from the 2003 novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger. In this movie, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci, and Emily Blunt delivered stellar performances that brought the characters to life.

For quite some time, there have been discussions about creating a follow-up to The Devil Wears Prada titled The Devil Wears Prada 2. However, it wasn’t until July 2024 that the project officially started its early development phase.

What is the update on The Devil Wears Prada 2?

According to a video posted by 20th Century Studios, the long-awaited sequel to “The Devil Wears Prada” has begun filming. You can watch the exciting announcement right here: (for additional trailers and clips).

By the deadline, Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci will all return to their respective roles in the sequel. Moreover, Kenneth Branagh has joined the cast and will portray the character of Meryl Streep’s husband in the upcoming film.

Kenneth Branagh has been both the director and actor in several adaptations of William Shakespeare’s works over the years, such as Henry V (1989), Much Ado About Nothing (1993), and Hamlet (1996). Lately, he’s become well-known for portraying Hercule Poirot in Murder on the Orient Express (2017), Death on the Nile (2022), and A Haunting in Venice (2023), all of which he also directed.

According to reports, the plot for the sequel remains unconfirmed, but it is believed that the narrative focuses on Miranda Priestly as she maneuvers her career in the face of traditional magazine publishing’s downfall. She encounters her former assistant, portrayed by Blunt, who has risen to become a powerful executive at a luxury group with crucial advertising funds that Priestly requires. It is uncertain how Andy Sachs, played by Hathaway, will fit into the storyline; in the original movie, she resigns from Runway and moves on to work at a newspaper.

In a return to the director’s chair, Frankel will be at the helm again, and Aline Brosh McKenna, the screenwriter of the initial film, is joining him as well in this upcoming project.

The Devil Wears Prada 2 has been given a May 1, 2026, release date from 20th Century Studios.
