At Paris Fashion Week, Doublet presented their Spring/Summer 2026 collection, which certainly caught everyone’s attention. This collection is inspired by “いただきます / Itadakimasu,” a Japanese phrase said before meals to express gratitude for the food. Designer Masayuki Ino took this concept quite literally and combined it with the principles of Sky High Farm, a farm that focuses on social issues. The collection delves into ideas related to nutrition, sustainability, and community.
The assortment is creatively playful yet eco-friendly, showcasing clothing items that look like various foods. This collection has been developed in partnership with environmentally aware individuals and groups. By employing innovative methods for sourcing materials such as recycled fishing nets, fish leather, and reclaimed eggshells, Doublet successfully transformed trash into fashionable art pieces.
The presentation was visually delightful, reminiscent of either a playful culinary adventure or a contemporary farm setting, where spectators sat comfortably on hay bales. One particularly striking exhibit was a hyperrealistic banana dress, intricately designed to resemble a genuine banana, featuring a peel-like exterior and a zipper that mimicked the act of unpeeling, as well as a fruit sticker bearing the Doublet logo for an authentic touch.
This design showcased an unusual yet captivating style inspired by a bunch of ripe bananas, with a hooded structure and a zipper extending up to the peak of the head, mirroring the fruit’s curve and texture. Other pieces followed the shapes of various foods like radishes, carrots, eggs, and more. The Doublet brand blurred the boundary between food and fashion, making ordinary produce seem romantic, amusing, and thought-provoking. By presenting this collection, the brand questioned traditional notions of luxury and craftsmanship, demonstrating that art can be discovered and donned through a variety of surprising perspectives.
