Soon, ComingSoon will be premiering a unique trailer titled “AJ’s Visit to the Dog Park” as part of Doppelgänger Releasing’s forthcoming live-action animated film.
After debuting at Fantastic Fest, the offbeat comedy is scheduled for its premiere on July 25, 2025, at various Alamo Drafthouse venues including New York, Los Angeles, Austin, Washington D.C., and other cities. Following this, it will embark on a nationwide tour, making stops in the Midwest cities such as Fargo, North Dakota, Minneapolis, Chicago (Music Box Theatre), Columbus, Cincinnati, and many others.
The movie titled “AJ Goes to the Dog Park” is helmed by first-time feature director Toby Jones, who’s famed for his work on Cartoon Network shows like Regular Show and OK K.O.! Let’s Be Heroes. In addition to Toby, the ensemble cast features Thompson, Greg Carlson, Danny Davy, Morgan Hoyt Davy, Jason Ehlert, Jacob Hartje, and Crystal Cossette Knight. The executive producers are Thompson, Toby Jones, John Jones, Owen Dennis, and Tucker Lucas, with Ben Hanson acting as producer.

What is AJ Goes to the Dog Park about?
In the seemingly ordinary town of Fargo, North Dakota, I, AJ Thompson, rise each day on the sunny side of life. Contented with my routine that could pass as a work of art, my days are filled with the simple joys: savoring cinnamon-kissed toast for breakfast, sharing dinner with my cherished best friends (who also happen to be married), and taking my beloved chihuahuas, Diddy and Biff, for a stroll at our favorite dog park. I cherish the quietude of my life, even when opportunities for change knock, like a promotion at work, an offer extended by none other than my father, my boss – but I prefer to maintain the tranquility that surrounds me.
Unfortunately, the tyrannical local mayor has transformed the dog park into a ‘blog park’, replacing joyful dog walkers with corporate employees huddled over their laptops. This change sets off a series of events that drastically alter AJ’s life as he prepares for an extraordinary journey to combat, catch fish, scuffle, struggle, and restore order to the world around him.
