Scarlett Johansson has given an update on the long-awaited Tower of Terror movie project.
2021 saw the announcement that Scarlett Johansson will not only star but also produce a film adaptation of Disney’s popular Tower of Terror ride. This thrilling attraction is modeled after Rod Serling’s The Twilight Zone and transports viewers to the imaginative “Hollywood Tower Hotel” in Hollywood, California.
The progress in the project has been delayed due to challenges that arose following Johansson’s lawsuit against Disney concerning the release of Black Widow in 2021, as well as the 2023 Writers Guild of America strike.
What did Scarlett Johansson say about Tower of Terror?
According to Entertainment Weekly, Johansson mentioned that the project is ongoing, but she also pointed out that it’s proving to be quite challenging.
She went on to explain, “It’s more challenging than you might imagine, for the journey itself carries a certain mythology. Yet, I wouldn’t call it dense, more like a delicate strand of stories.
According to Johansson, there isn’t much depth or complexity to explore when transforming the Tower of Terror attraction into a full-length movie.
She went on to say, “The intrigue of this journey is part of its allure. Working on it has been an enjoyable challenge since it’s like working on a brand new idea in the sky. It’s been tough, like trying to crack a difficult nut, but we’re determined to solve the puzzle. It’s really starting to come together!
As of now, Walt Disney Pictures hasn’t set a launch date for the Tower of Terror movie. The California iteration of the ride was swapped out with Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: Breakout! back in 2017, but it continues to operate at Disney parks in Orlando, Paris, and Tokyo.
As I immerse myself in the thrilling world of gaming, I can’t help but feel a surge of excitement as I eagerly anticipate the release of Jurassic World Rebirth! This epic adventure, masterfully directed by Gareth Edwards, is set to storm US theaters on July 2, 2025, graciously brought to us by Universal Pictures. Can’t wait to experience the dinosaur-filled action firsthand!
