On June 27, 2025, the movie titled “Kannappa,” featuring Vishnu Manchu as the main character, made its grand debut on the silver screen. This captivating film is based on Hindu mythology and recounts the story of Kannappa, a revered saint.
If you’re looking for a quick recap and to check out its ending, here are the details.
Kannappa’s story explained
The narrative revolves around Kannappa, who is a youthful member of a tribal community and the offspring of a tribal leader. Due to their traditions, this hunter renounces his faith in the divine, transforming into an individual without belief in any deity.
In the heavenly abode of Kailasa, the characters portrayed by Akshay Kumar as Lord Shiva and Kajal Aggarwal as Goddess Parvati are taking note of the happenings. As they keenly watch Thinnadu’s life unfold, Shiva gains a foresight into the destiny of humans and the experiences they will encounter.
In the course of his life, Thinnadu develops into a kind-hearted individual and finds himself deeply smitten with Nemali, who is a royal figure hailing from a neighboring tribe. However, as Nemali is already promised to another, Thinnadu is banished from his own community for his affection towards her.
Conversely, an idol representing Shiva’s manifestation as the personification of wind is located close to a region where malevolent forces seek it out for profane purposes.
What unfolds in Thinnadu’s life next?
Kannappa picks up the narrative as Thinnadu lives in self-imposed banishment. In his time far from home, deeply enamored with Nemali, the hunter stumbles upon a sacred Shiva Lingam.
As a lifestyle expert, I’d rephrase that sentence like this: In my own peculiar way, I’ve come to venerate an idol without fully understanding its true might. Due to my innocence and lack of knowledge, I often present offerings to the deity that are considered unorthodox – in this case, meat, a practice not typically associated with our faith.
Nevertheless, Lord Shiva appreciates Thinnadu’s actions and recognizes the sincerity behind them.
Spoiler Alert
To prove Thinnadu’s loyalty, Lord Shiva sets forth challenging trials for him throughout his existence. Eventually, Thinnadu encounters Rudra (Prabhas), an ancient god from the Rigveda, and Kirata (Mohanlal), a powerful tribal fighter.
In Thinnadu’s life, it appears that both individuals are like guiding figures, and a crucial test is approaching. The hunter then performs an extraordinary act of loyalty by giving one of his eyes to Lord Shiva, causing even the god to be amazed.
In response to the man’s extraordinary devotion, which included offering his second eye, Shiva was moved and granted him a new form. Impressed by this act of dedication, Shiva eventually restored the man’s sight, and he went on to be remembered as the saint known as Kannappa.
