One actress who plays a key role in the TV series Chicago PD has revealed her plans to depart from the show prior to Season 13. Airing on NBC, this show is part of their Chicago franchise and first hit the airwaves on January 8, 2014. The twelfth season aired from September 25, 2024, to May 21, 2025. Before the finale of the twelfth season, NBC announced a renewal for Season 13.
Chicago PD’s Toya Turner issues statement on leaving before Season 13
Actress Toya Turner, known for her character Officer Kiana Cook in Chicago PD Season 12, has announced her departure from the show. She will not be returning for Season 13. In a post on Instagram, she expressed, “My journey with Chicago P.D. has ended.” She continued, “This series pushed me, honed my skills, and showed me what I’m capable of. I’ve grown through this experience, not just as an actor, but also in my art. I leave with a newfound understanding, focus, and energy for the next chapter.

Turner went on to express gratitude towards the cast and team for the “warmth, humor, and kindness” they contributed to the production. Furthermore, she mentioned that it was a privilege to act alongside such talented individuals in front of and behind the camera.
After that, the actress expressed her appreciation to fans for their warm welcome, continuous support, and showing Kiana affection. Turner ended her message by expressing gratitude towards her supporters, stating “I can’t emphasize enough how much your support means to me. I’m thrilled about the opportunities coming up.
Initially, Turner made her debut as Kiana during Season 12’s second episode of Chicago PD and remained a key character throughout that season. Moreover, she reprised her role as Kiana in Season 10’s eleventh episode of Chicago Med. Notably, this isn’t unusual for network series, as actors often transition from minor roles to major characters by playing different personas within the same show.
As I type this, I’m still left guessing why Turner decided to part ways with Chicago PD. The details behind his departure are yet to be fully revealed.
