Street Fighter Movie Adds 50 Cent as Iconic Villain

Known as Legendary Entertainment, the company has brought on board a Grammy-winning hip-hop artist for an exciting new adaptation of the Street Fighter film, which is based on the widely recognized Capcom video game franchise. As of now, there’s no set launch date available for this project.

What is know about 50 Cent’s role?

50 Cent (Curtis Jackson) has been chosen to play the part of Balrog, who is known as the bodyguard for the antagonist in the upcoming film. Previously, this character was portrayed by Grand L. Bush in the 1994 adaptation and Michael Clarke Duncan in The Legend of Chun-Li (2009). Jackson plans to perform his own stunts in the project. This is the latest high-profile movie role for the rapper-actor, following his appearances in Expendables 4 (2023) and the Escape Plan series.

In the future, the Street Fighter film will be helmed by Kitao Sakurai (known for Bad Trip) with a script penned by Dalan Musson. The game centers around a diverse group of combatants, among them is Chun-Li, who engage in intense one-on-one fights in a worldwide tournament. Joining the cast will be Andrew Koji (from Snake Eyes and Warrior) portraying Ryu, Noah Centineo (The Recruit, Warfare) as Ken, Jason Momoa (Aquaman, Fast X), ex-WWE champion Roman Reigns (Hobbs & Shaw), Callina Liang (Presence) taking on the role of Chun-Li, and Orville Peck as Vega.

Sakurai has a history of transforming video games into screenplays; he was once in charge of episodes for the TV show Twisted Metal on Peacock. At present, specifics about the storyline are being kept secret. Prior to Sakurai joining the project, Danny and Michael Philippou, known as Talk to Me and Bring Her Back, were initially appointed to direct the film.
