The Social Network 2 Gets Title & Promising Update

Following numerous whispers and announcements, it’s been confirmed that the sequel to “The Social Network,” now known by a different title, is under development, according to Deadline, who also shared an exciting update about the project.

What do we know about The Social Network Part II?

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m excited to share that, based on recent reports from Deadline, the upcoming film has been titled “The Social Network Part II.” It’s great news that Aaron Sorkin is coming back to the project! From what I gather, he will be both writing and directing the movie. However, contrary to the title suggesting a sequel, this isn’t exactly the case. The film won’t follow the same narrative as the first one but might explore related themes or events.

Contrarily to previous speculations, it appears that the upcoming movie will serve as its own continuation of the original film. Previously, Sorkin mentioned that he had penned a “sort-of sequel” delving into the January 6th insurrection from 2020.

On The Town podcast hosted by Matthew Belloni, The Social Network scriptwriter indicated that Facebook held significant responsibility for the uprising, although he did not provide specific reasons for this viewpoint immediately.

According to Sorkin, he asserts that Facebook holds responsibility for the events on January 6th. In a playful manner, he hints that one would need to purchase a cinema ticket to uncover his reasons. Essentially, Sorkin believes that Facebook has been manipulating its algorithm to amplify the most contentious material available. This strategy is employed because it boosts engagement and encourages the endless scrolling experience within Facebook.

First released in 2010, “The Social Network” featured an impressive cast that included Jesse Eisenberg, Andrew Garfield, Justin Timberlake, Armie Hammer, Max Minghella, Brenda Song, Rashida Jones, John Getz, David Selby, Rooney Mara, and others. This film proved to be a box office hit, earning three Oscars and gaining recognition as one of the finest movies ever made.
