Justin Baldoni & Blake Lively’s Lawsuit Gets Shocking Update

According to reports, Justin Baldoni has moved on from his previous legal dispute after a judge dismissed his claims against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Instead of modifying the lawsuit, the actor and director associated with “The It Ends with Us” is now investigating alternative legal paths while continuing to hold onto his stance regarding the case.

Here’s what Baldoni’s legal team said about the dropped claims and their next steps.

Is Justin Baldoni dropping Blake Lively lawsuit?

Justin Baldoni has decided not to make any further changes or resubmit new claims against Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds, following the dismissal of his $400 million lawsuit.

On June 9, 2025, Judge Lewis J. Liman ruled in favor of dismissing Baldoni’s accusations, which involved extortion and defamation charges. The court provided Baldoni until June 23 to revise his claims. Ultimately, his legal team decided not to pursue further action.

Attorney Bryan Freedman for Baldoni clarified that instead of modifying the current allegations, they are exploring alternative legal routes at their disposal. Freedman also expressed confidence in successfully refuting the groundless accusations leveled against them. He further emphasized that the court’s verdict does not impact their firm stance in defending against Ms. Lively’s claims.

The first lawsuit originated from a dispute concerning the movie “It Ends with Us.” In December 2024, Blake Lively lodged a complaint alleging that Baldoni had acted inappropriately and engaged in a vengeful smear campaign against her. Baldoni responded with a counterclaim in early 2025, as well as a separate $250 million libel lawsuit against The New York Times for their reporting on the matter. However, both lawsuits were ultimately dismissed.

According to Freedman, Baldoni is eagerly anticipating the opportunity to clear his name and believes that his time in court will come. His legal team plans to keep working towards debunking allegations of misconduct related to both harassment and slander.

As an ardent supporter, I’m thrilled to share the news that our beloved brand, Lively, has emerged victorious in the $400 million lawsuit filed by Baldoni-Wayfarer. The court has dismissed the entire case, which I see as a complete triumph for us! This dismissal of the baseless lawsuit feels like a sweet victory indeed.

In separate developments, Judge Liman has rejected Lively’s request for a protective order concerning her interactions with Taylor Swift. This information, previously deemed irrelevant by Lively’s legal team, is now believed to be significant to the case. The trial is scheduled for March 2026.
