Funcom’s latest MMORPG, Dune Awakening, is now live, garnering tremendous success with substantial sales and a throng of enthusiastic fans ready to traverse the legendary desert world of Arakis.
Despite encountering some initial problems that Funcom is swiftly working to resolve, the game’s massive popularity has marked a record-breaking launch for the company, surpassing previous milestones set by Conan Exiles and standing as its largest debut in the past 32 years.
Dune Awakening is Funcom’s best-selling game
Hey there, fellow gamers! I just wanted to hop on here and share some exciting news. You know Funcom, right? They’ve given us classics like Age of Conan and Anarchy Online over the years, but their player bases have always been a bit more intimate. But guess what? Their latest MMO, Dune Awakening, has shattered all expectations! Can’t wait to see where this journey takes us!
On June 10th, Dune: Awakening was released and already over a million players have joined! This makes it Funcom’s fastest-selling game to date. To give you some context, Conan Exiles took an entire year to reach the same number of players. We are deeply moved and grateful for this overwhelming response.
Since its release, the massive role-playing game has seen a staggering 1 million players delve into 25,529,505 square kilometers of its famous planet, gobble up approximately 6 billion grams of spice, and construct more than half a million Ornithopters.
Currently, while we’re drafting this text, Dune: Awakening is modifying its final stage to ensure that Role-Playing Experience (PvE) players won’t be obliged to engage with a Player versus Player (PvP) system, which might not align with their preferences. Funcom remains dedicated to developing additional content for the game as the MMO expands further into the future.
As a gamer, I’ve always appreciated Funcom for their unwavering commitment to their MMOs, even those that have been written off by many. For instance, Anarchy Online – one of the oldest surviving MMOs ever – is a testament to this dedication, with regular, minor updates still happening, despite its relatively small player base.
