Without a doubt, Joju George is among the most notable actors in the Malayalam film industry. Recently, he’s been generating buzz due to his open remarks. Now, he’s publicly accused the producers of Churuli, stating that he hasn’t been paid for his work yet.
Joju George on not receiving remuneration for Churuli
According to Joju George’s interview with The New Indian Express, he stated that he did not earn a single rupee for his performance in the movie “Churuli.” He further elaborated on the challenge of delivering the film’s profanities, finding it an additional load to carry.
In an interview, the actor stated that the filmmakers led him to believe he should use profanity in Churuli, under the impression it would solely be submitted for awards. But, as it turns out, they ended up releasing that explicit version instead.
Joju stated, “It would’ve been polite for them to notify me about the issue prior to the OTT launch. In fact, a complaint was made against me due to the offensive language in the movie.
About Churuli
If you’re unsure about it, let me clarify: ‘Churuli’ is a thrilling blend of sci-fi, mystery, and horror, masterfully directed by Lijo Jose Pellissery. In this intriguing tale, I find myself playing the role of two undercover cops embarking on a journey to a remote village. Our mission? To unmask a potential criminal who’s rumored to be hiding there, but as we delve deeper, the lines between truth and illusion start to blur.
As they arrive at the village, an unsettling transformation, the inhabitants, and the ensuing occurrences cause them to find themselves trapped within it, pondering every aspect of their surroundings.
Churuli originates from the short story titled “Kaligeminarile Kuttavalikal,” which is found in the book “Mullaranjanam.” This tale penned by Vinoy Thomas made its debut at the International Film Festival of Kerala on February 11, 2021.
After it came out, the movie received a mix of favorable to good feedback, notably due to the excessive use of profanity in Malayalam dialogue.
In the movie Churuli, Vinay Forrt and Chemban Vinod Jose take the main characters, while Joju George, Soubin Shahir, Sajin Gopu, Lukman Avaran, and others assume crucial roles. Interestingly, this film, now available on SonyLIV, was reportedly completed in a swift 19 days of shooting.
From my perspective as a devoted admirer, lately I’ve been keeping an eye on Joju George’s artistic journey. Most recently, he graced our screens in a pivotal part for Kamal Haasan’s Thug Life. The film, directed by Mani Ratnam and categorized as a gangster actioner, also starred Simbu and Trisha in supporting roles. Unfortunately, it received unfavorable critiques when it was unveiled to the public.
