In Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, you’ll encounter various types of items such as healing supplies, combat gear, quest-related objects, and construction materials. Some of these items may only appear once, while others will transform into a “used” version that occupies space in your inventory after usage. It might be tempting to discard them, but hold on! There’s a more beneficial solution at hand.
What to do with used items in Death Stranding 2: On the Beach
If you don’t urgently require more storage for your cargo, consider recycling some items instead. Simply bring your old belongings to a designated terminal at the base, then navigate to the Private Locker Management section. Here, you can view all the items in your locker, backpack, and suit attachments. Any item that has been previously used will be identified with a red label saying “Used” enclosed within brackets.
To discard an item, press it and then choose the Recycle option located at the bottom. This action will display a screen detailing the materials you’ll receive by recycling them. You could potentially obtain Chrial Crystals, Resins, Metals, Ceramics, Chemicals, or Special Alloys, based on the items you recycle.
In other words, these items can be utilized for making more things you might require. Unless storing an item provides a material that you’ve run out of, it’s better to recycle instead. If it does, simply set aside and keep the item in your main storage.
