In Death Stranding 2, the Beached Things (BTs) serve as an intriguing adversary, bringing a sense of fear and anticipation wherever they appear. Your initial face-off against them will take place northeast of the research lab in Mexico. You’ll be carrying valuable goods at this time, preventing you from moving forward until you successfully handle these BTs.

How to beat the BTs at the northeast of the research lab – Death Stranding 2: On the Beach

In simpler terms, the BTs are eerie, spectral figures with a black chiral shape that seem to float in the air everywhere here. If you approach them closely, they become aware of your presence, releasing a puddle of tar filled with adversaries in pursuit. To vanquish the BTs, keep your distance and utilize your newly gained Blood Grenades to eliminate them.

To activate your gear radial, press and hold the right directional pad. Then, opt for the grenades. Each “grenade” offers five distinct items to hurl, so you’ll have a total of fifteen if you brought all the supplies provided at the base. Press L2 to ready the grenade, which will generate a blue circle at the target location. You can press R2 to launch the device or hold R2 for a long-range throw that’s handy against bosses.

Feel free to reposition this object as needed, but be sure any target within its vicinity will become noticeably red. Make certain that the target is partially colored red before you toss the grenade filled with blood vapor. Upon impact, these Blood Grenades detonate, and they can still function effectively even if they strike a wall or ceiling, as long as part of their area of effect overlaps with the BT and turns it red prior to throwing them.

In the region where BTs are present, simply toss one explosive at each one you encounter. As you eliminate them, you’ll occasionally receive updates notifying you that chiral levels are decreasing. However, keep in mind that your weapon isn’t effective against all targets until you reach the research base. Thus, it’s best not to rely on it during this battle.

When you spot BTs in the area, drop a bomb on each one and watch for updates about chiral levels dropping while you eliminate them. Although your weapon can defeat all targets, it won’t be effective until you reach the research base, so don’t rely on it during this fight.
