David Koepp, the author of Jurassic Park, has recently provided an update on the progress of Steven Spielberg’s upcoming UFO movie. This will be their latest project together, following their successful collaboration on the 1993 dinosaur film. As of now, the movie is slated for release in cinemas on June 12, 2026.
As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but get excited about the star-studded cast gracing our screens! Emily Blunt, who we know from Oppenheimer, will be joining forces with Wyatt Russell (Thunderbolts), Josh O’Connor (The Crown), Colman Domingo (Rustin), Colin Firth (The King’s Speech), Eve Hewson (The Perfect Couple), and Noah Robbins (Fly Me to the Moon). This incredible ensemble is brought to us by the legendary Steven Spielberg, along with Kristie Macosko Krieger for Amblin Entertainment, and Chris Brigham. The anticipation is palpable!
What is the update for the Steven Spielberg UFO movie?
In a recent interview, Koepp disclosed that production on his upcoming Spielberg film concluded three weeks ago. While he couldn’t share much about the storyline and characters, he did mention that “Spielberg was more actively involved in this project than he’s ever been on any movie I’ve written for him to direct.
He mentioned that there’s not much information he can share on the topic, except that filming wrapped up around three weeks back. He seems quite pleased with the final product and shared that it will be released in June.
Koepp went on to remark, “Whatever I say, it could cost me my life. Spielberg does something extraordinary by blending an epic showcase with genuine, heartfelt emotions in a way that no other director seems able to match. This film is incredibly moving.
As a die-hard fan, I’m thrilled to share that the yet-to-be-titled UFO film is being masterfully directed by the legendary Steven Spielberg. The screenplay for this intriguing project has been penned by David Koepp, who previously worked on Jurassic Park. Interestingly, it’s based on a story by the esteemed Oscar-winning director himself.
This upcoming sci-fi film marks Spielberg’s return to the genre since he directed the 2018 adaptation of Ready Player One. It will serve as his latest directorial venture following The Fabelmans, which was released in 2022 and was a semi-autobiographical tale based on his early life. This remarkable film garnered seven Academy Award nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress (Michelle Williams), and Best Supporting Actor (Judd Hirsch).
