Artist Lizzo has shared insights into her weight reduction process, disclosing that for a while she experimented with the medication Ozempic, which was originally developed for diabetes but is also used for weight loss, before discovering a long-term solution that worked better for her.
Lizzo says she tried Ozempic during weight loss journey
Lizzo discussed her journey with weight loss medications such as Ozempic in an interview on the Just Trish podcast. During her chat with host Trisha Paytas on the June 19 episode, the multiple Grammy-winning artist revealed that she tried GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic, but she ultimately achieved success by making changes to her diet rather than relying on medications.
Lizzo openly shared that she had exhausted all options during her initial efforts to control her weight. She mentioned her brief use of Ozempic, a medication initially designed for type 2 diabetes treatment but commonly employed for weight loss nowadays. However, she also disclosed that she chose to discontinue using it in the early stages of her journey.
She clarified that Ozempic helps by making you feel satisfied with eating smaller amounts of food. However, if you manage to eat less due to self-control or willpower, the result is essentially the same.
Lizzo disclosed that the key to her major success wasn’t reliant on medication but rather a change in her eating habits – more specifically, abandoning veganism. The artist behind “Good as Hell” admitted that her previous vegan diet consisted of excessive processed alternatives and lacked fulfilling, nutritious whole foods.
In her vegan days, she found herself consuming large amounts of plant-based meats, bread, rice, and needed to eat quite a bit to feel satisfied. However, once she started incorporating animal protein back into her diet, she started noticing significant improvements.
She shared that when she began consuming real, whole foods like meat (such as beef, chicken, and fish), she felt truly full instead of stretching her stomach with numerous unnatural substances. This change made her feel more contented and invigorated, without needing artificial fillers or excessive carbohydrates.
As a fervent admirer of hers, I must say, though I’ve chosen to discontinue Ozempic personally, I wholeheartedly respect those who continue its use. Lizzo courageously voiced her stance against the prejudice faced by individuals seeking help through medical assistance in their weight loss journey.
