As a passionate gamer and a big fan of “The Boys”, I’m excited to share that Jensen Ackles, who brings Soldier Boy to life in our favorite series, recently shared some insights about filming for Season 5. He didn’t specify an exact release date yet, but hinted at it being closer than we might think. Originating from the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, “The Boys” made its debut on Prime Video back in July 26, 2019. Can’t wait to see what adventures await us in Season 5!
The second, third, and fourth seasons premiered on September 4, 2020, June 3, 2022, and June 13, 2024 respectively. Before the airing of the fourth season in May 2024, Amazon Prime Video announced that the fifth and last season of the show would also be produced.
Jensen Ackles’ filming update hints at The Boys Season 5 release date window
In an interview with CBR, Jensen Ackles mentioned that he expects filming for Season 5 to conclude next month. He recently wrapped up work on “The Boys” (on June 10th), but as he noted, “You never know,” since they might call him back for additional scenes. Production for the fifth season started in November of last year.
Based on Karl Urban’s Instagram post from July 2024 and considering what Ackles said along with the pattern of recent seasons, it seems likely that Season 5 could debut on Amazon Prime Video in June 2026. However, it is important to note that Amazon has not yet officially confirmed a release date for the fifth season at this time.
At the end of the Season 4 finale’s credits, it was revealed that Antony Starr’s character John / Homelander discovered Soldier Boy, played by Ackles, was still alive and being held captive by the US government. This hinted at a return for Ackles in the final episodes of the series.
Previously, Ackles collaborated with the creator and producer of The Boys, Eric Kripke, on the television series Supernatural that aired on The WB/The CW. In the fifth season, two main actors from that show, Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins, are part of the cast. Moreover, original cast members Jack Quaid as Hugh “Hughie” Campbell Jr., Erin Moriarty as Annie January / Starlight, and Laz Alonso as Marvin T. “Mother’s” Milk / M.M. will reappear in the series.
