Ralph Fiennes Reacts To Real Pope Leo XIV Watching Conclave

Renowned actor Ralph Fiennes has spoken up about the news that Pope Leo XIV allegedly watched his 2024 political thriller “Conclave” prior to his participation in this year’s papal election. Remarkably, the movie provided an unanticipated insight into the process of choosing a new pope for the current pontiff.

Ralph Fiennes asks if Pope Leo XIV was able to ‘enjoy’ Conclave movie

Ralph Fiennes wasn’t anticipating that his Vatican-based political thriller, Conclave, would wind up on a Pope’s viewing list. But when it was revealed that the newly elected Pope Leo XIV had watched the movie prior to taking part in a real papal election, Fiennes found himself with some intriguing queries on his mind.

Fiennes inquired during their chat with Entertainment Weekly, “Did he find it enjoyable? Did his response halfway through indicate dissatisfaction, ‘This is mediocre,’ or did he derive some benefit from it? I’m curious about his thoughts.

During interviews about his new production, titled “28 Years Later,” the actor mused on the extraordinary notion of his portrayal being scrutinized by the head of the Roman Catholic Church. He commented, “I’m confident that numerous individuals within the church and many cardinals have viewed it and perceived it as far from the truth.” However, he added, “I believe we managed to capture the essence of the rituals accurately. I suspect the power struggles were exaggerated for dramatic effect. I merely hope that he found some merit in it. I’m simply uncertain.

Everything began when John Prevost, brother of Pope Leo XIV, shared with NBC News that the previous Cardinal Robert Prevost of Chicago had watched the film “Conclave” right before joining the actual papal conclave in May. “He knew exactly how to act since he had just finished watching the movie,” John recollected, referring to their conversation.

The story revolves around a cardinal discovering hidden truths and political machinations as he participates in the process of choosing a new pope.
