Mindhunter Season 3 Gets Exciting Update, Could Return Differently Than Expected

Holt McCallany, the actor playing FBI Special Agent Bill Tench in Netflix’s show “Mindhunter,” recently shared some tantalizing news about the possibility of further story development. This series initially debuted on Netflix on October 13, 2017, with its second season airing on August 16, 2019. Ever since then, fans have been eagerly discussing the potential for a third season.

Holt McCallany says Mindhunter could return as a movie trilogy instead of Season 3

Holt McCallany shared during a CBR interview that although Mindhunter Season 3 might not materialize, there’s potential for it to be transformed into a Netflix trilogy of movies. He disclosed that he had a conversation with executive producer David Fincher a few months ago, and the renowned director hinted at the possibility of Mindhunter returning as “three two-hour” films.

McCallany shared that he met with David Fincher in his office a few months back, and Fincher mentioned there might be a possibility of it being divided into three two-hour films. However, McCallany emphasized this was just a potential scenario. Furthermore, McCallany stated that writers were currently working on the scripts, but ultimately, Fincher needs to approve them, as he must be satisfied with their work.

In the series “Mindhunter,” Bill Tench, portrayed by McCallany, works alongside Holden Ford, played by Jonathan Groff, in the FBI’s Behavioral Science Unit (BSU). Alongside them is Dr. Wendy Carr, a psychology professor, as they venture into a research project that involves discussing with imprisoned serial killers to gain insights into their psyche. Their aim is to learn about the factors that shape these individuals, and they believe this understanding can be applied to solve ongoing cases.

During the previous interview, McCallany expressed his gratitude and privilege for being part of Mindhunter, hoping it might return. He further explained, “If the right circumstances come together – much like a perfect alignment of the sun, moon, and stars – I believe there’s still hope.
