Kuberaa: Dhanush claims he ‘trusted name and reputation’ of Sekhar Kammula only to beg in streets of Tirupati

Word on the street is that Dhanush’s portrayal of a beggar in Sekhar Kammula’s upcoming movie, Kuberaa, has sparked quite a buzz. Known for his intense and authentic screen presence, as hinted at in the film’s trailer, Dhanush will be joining forces with Nagarjuna Akkineni and Rashmika Mandanna in significant roles.

Now, the Tamil actor has shared insights about the authenticity of filming for the movie, a process that even involved him pretending to beg on the streets of Tirupati.

Dhanush discusses shooting as Deva in Kuberaa

In the upcoming movie “Kuberaa,” directed by Sekhar Kammula, it seems that Dhanush has mastered his ability to adapt, taking on the character of a beggar in this production.

During the premiere gathering for the movie, the performer reminisced about quickly agreeing to the script following a brief 20-minute discussion. Yet, it caught him off guard when the director genuinely had him act out his part by sitting and pleading on Tirupati’s streets.

Dhanush shared that Director Sekhar Kammula narrated the plot to him swiftly within 20 minutes, which led him to readily accept due to his faith in the director’s name and standing. However, what transpired later was that he found himself pleading on the streets of Tirupati.

Kuberaa gets 19 scenes removed by CBFC ahead of release

Prior to the premiere of Kuberaa, the movie underwent another round of censorship by the CBFC, resulting in the removal of 19 scenes from its duration. These scenes featured actors Dhanush, Rashmika, and Nagarjuna in various locations and situations.

The shortened edition, removing about 14 minutes from the original, now clocks in at 3 hours and 1 minute (approximately), totaling 181 minutes. Additionally, it has received a U/A rating from the censorship board.

Kuberaa cast fees

Recently, discussions about the cast salaries in Kuberaa have made news headlines too. As reported by Daily Jagran, it’s alleged that Dhanush will earn around 36% of the entire film budget as his salary, which is roughly equal to Rs. 30 crores.

Additionally, it’s stated in a Filmibeat report that Rashmika Mandanna is rumored to earn approximately Rs. 4 crores as the leading actress, while Nagarjuna Akkineni allegedly takes home a salary of Rs. 14 crores.
