Harry Potter: Ralph Fiennes Has Hilarious Advice for New Voldemort Actor

It turns out that even Lord Voldemort can make us laugh a little! Ralph Fiennes shares some amusing tips for the actor who will step into the role of the Dark Lord in HBO’s forthcoming Harry Potter series.

In four Harry Potter movies, starting with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire in 2005, Fiennes portrayed Voldemort. He continued this role in three more films: The Order of the Phoenix (released in 2007), Deathly Hallows – Part 1 (in 2010), and Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (in 2011).

What is Ralph Fiennes’ advice for Harry Potter TV’s next Voldemort?

During a conversation about his current venture titled “28 Years Later,” Fiennes was queried for any suggestions he might have for the individual taking over the character of Voldemort. However, Fiennes had more tangible guidance in mind.

The actor advised Entertainment Tonight: “Be mindful of moving gracefully in your long, flowing garments to avoid tripping, and practice that walk. By the way, I wore tights initially, but they kept slipping down during filming and became uncomfortable. So, I requested separate tights like a garter belt instead. It was fun to tease the stunt team by lifting up my gown and flashing my garter belt now and then.

Different actors portrayed the infamous villain, Voldemort, at various points throughout his fictional life in the Harry Potter series. These include Richard Bremmer (in “Sorcerer’s Stone”), Christian Coulson (in “Chamber of Secrets”), Frank Dillane (in “Half-Blood Prince”), and Hero Fiennes-Tiffin (also in “Half-Blood Prince”). However, it was Ian Hart who supplied the voice and motion capture for Voldemort in the first Harry Potter film.

Currently, no actor has been confirmed for the role of Voldemort, but Fiennes has hinted that he would like to see Cillian Murphy play this character. Notably, Fiennes is also scheduled to perform as the stern dictator President Snow in The Hunger Games: Sunrise at the Reaping, following his role in 29 Days Later.

28 years after its initial release, the movie will be shown in U.S. theaters on June 20, 2025. On the other hand, HBO’s Harry Potter series is anticipated to debut towards the end of 2026.
