Stellar Blade Might be in Development for Nintendo Switch 2 – Rumour

As a devoted admirer, I’m thrilled to share that after gracing PC screens following its stint as a PS5 exclusive, it appears the creative minds at Shift Up are still brimming with energy. Based on reports from the Korean publication PlayForum, they’re now diligently working on a port of Stellar Blade for the rumored Nintendo Switch 2 console, keeping us action game enthusiasts on our toes!

Although Shift Up hasn’t officially confirmed Stellar Blade coming to the Switch 2, a report suggests that the studio has acquired a development kit for Nintendo’s latest system and is currently developing a port. This kit comes equipped with unreleased APIs, software used for game testing, and debugging tools designed to fine-tune a game to run smoothly on the console.

The upcoming version of Stellar Blade, currently in development, appears to be scaling back its visuals significantly to ensure smooth performance on the Switch 2, a hybrid device that can function both as a handheld and home console. It’s also expected that Nvidia’s DLSS technology will play a key role in making Stellar Blade run smoothly on this platform. To provide some context, the PC version of Stellar Blade currently supports both DLSS 4 and AMD’s FSR 3 technologies.

Previously, it was made known that the studio has initiated development on a follow-up to the popular game, Stellar Blade. Although an exact launch date hasn’t been disclosed yet, it appears that they are aiming for 2026 as the potential release year for Stellar Blade 2. Additionally, Shift Up is also crafting a completely new title called Project Witches, intended for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S platforms.

Stellar Blade has demonstrated remarkable success for Shift Up, as they recently announced that the game has sold 3 million copies collectively across its PC and PS5 releases. The PC version, released only this month, appears to have significantly boosted those sales numbers already.

In February, Shift Up shared that their game “Stellar Blade” generated approximately $43.2 million in revenue over the past year, contributing significantly to the studio’s total earnings of around $151.4 million. This represented a substantial 30.4% growth compared to the previous year. The profits for the year reached $102.3 million, marking a 33.8% increase year-on-year. Additionally, net profits surged to $98.2 million.

Approximately $105.4 million, or around 69.6% of the total income, was attributed to the gacha game “Goddess of Victory: Nikke.” At that point, the studio hadn’t yet released the PC version of “Stellar Blade,” but they anticipated it would significantly boost revenue in the future as well.

The game titled “Stellar Blade” can be played on personal computers and PlayStation 5. For comprehensive information, feel free to explore our review of the initial PS5 launch, where we awarded it an 8/10 rating. In this assessment, we applauded its immersive combat and intriguing backstory due to engaging lore and appealing visuals, while expressing concerns over its inconsistent dialogue and unengaging side missions.
