The blockbuster movie “Coolie” by superstar Rajinikanth is set to premiere on August 14, 2025. As the launch date approaches, the distribution rights of this Lokesh Kanagaraj-directed film have been purchased for an enormous sum in international markets.
According to our exclusive news, it’s been confirmed that the global distribution rights for the anticipated Tamil action film, Coolie, have been acquired for a staggering 680 million rupees. The agreement was made with Ayngaran International, who secured this highly-anticipated deal.
From what I’ve gathered from my trusted industry insiders, our beloved movie might have garnered an even more impressive figure in international sales if it hadn’t been up against the powerhouse duo of Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR in “War 2”. It’s a tough battle out there for box office dominance!
If the agreement for Coolie goes through, it will set a new high for films starring Rajinikanth and rank second only in Tamil cinema. It’s been reported that Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan has secured the largest deal yet, as Phars Films has acquired the film’s international distribution rights for an impressive 75 crore rupees.
Earlier, the film “Thug Life” produced by Kamal Haasan was quoted a massive price of approximately Rs. 63 crores with AP International, surpassed only by “Leo,” which fetched around Rs. 60 crores from multiple distributors, and “The Greatest Of All Time,” which secured Rs. 53 crores through Phars.

It’s worth noting that the international distribution rights for the movie starring Rajinikanth, titled “Jailer”, were purchased for a staggering sum of INR 35 crores. This means that the deal for “Coolie” nearly doubles this figure.
Discussing Coolie, the eagerly awaited action movie is helmed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. This forthcoming production reportedly showcases the superstar assuming a villainous character, with notable actors Nagarjuna Akkineni and Upendra Rao playing pivotal roles.
