Donkey Kong Bananza will feature Zebra and Ostrich forms through Pauline’s singing

During the Nintendo Direct presentation known as “Donkey Kong Bananza,” they unveiled fresh gameplay for Donkey Kong’s upcoming journey. While exploring the subterranean realms alongside Pauline, our hero will gain the ability to metamorphose into various animal-like shapes, thanks to Pauline’s melodious voice.

In the inaugural session of Donkey Kong Bananza Direct, it was unveiled that Pauline will be DK’s partner throughout the game, as he navigates through the depths of the underground to bring her back to the surface. When Pauline sings, she triggers Kong Bananza, which empowers DK to assume new forms by tapping into the abilities of various animals.

Among the latest transformations, Kong Bananza boosts Donkey Kong’s strength, allowing him to break through barriers that were once unbreakable. With Zebra Bananza, Donkey Kong can run faster and traverse water surfaces. The Bird-like Bananza bestows upon Donkey Kong the ability to fly, dropping explosive eggs on his foes and surroundings from above.

In this game, players have the freedom to use their Bananza powers whenever and wherever they choose, as the developers encourage creativity. During the Direct presentation, they demonstrated both local and online cooperative play options for Donkey Kong Bananza, which will be available on the Switch 2 starting July 17, 2025.
