What does Clearance, Threat & Corruption do in FBC: Firebreak?

Exploring job creation and fine-tuning specific aspects is an enjoyable aspect in FBC: Firebreak. Upon choosing a job, you’re given the flexibility to alter Clearance, Threat, and Corruption levels. Nevertheless, it’s not immediately apparent what effects these have, when and why certain ones can be activated, and what benefits you’ll reap from them. Here’s a breakdown of each modifier’s role in the game:

1. Clearance: This determines your access level to various areas or resources within the game world. Higher clearance levels grant access to more restricted zones, potentially leading to better rewards and opportunities.

2. Threat: This indicates the level of danger or resistance you’ll face when attempting tasks or missions. Lower threat levels make jobs easier, while higher ones increase the challenge and often provide greater rewards.

3. Corruption: This modifier represents your character’s involvement in illegal activities or shady deals. Increasing corruption can lead to accessing hidden content, but it also risks attracting unwanted attention from authorities or rival factions. Be aware that too much corruption may negatively impact your reputation and game progression.

Understanding these modifiers will help you navigate the game more effectively, make informed decisions, and ultimately succeed in FBC: Firebreak.

What does Clearance, Threat, and Corruption do?

Prior to starting a job in FBC: Firebreak, you will be required to choose a Clearance, Threat, and Corruption level for the position. These selections significantly influence the course of the job. They determine factors like the job’s length, difficulty, and the modifiers you encounter during your shift.

Clearance

The Clearance level determines the number of rooms you’ll need to clear beyond the initial one to advance further in the session. If it’s set at Level 3 (the highest), expect the task to have at least three rooms, usually ending with a battle against a boss.

In this scenario, the length of the mission influences the quantity of Missing Resources or Items you can discover, either in Shelters or from opponents. The longer the mission, the greater the chance of finding such resources.

To advance to Clearance Level 3 for your job, you must first successfully pass Clearance Level 2. Importantly, only Clearance Level 3 is vulnerable to Corruption-related issues.

Corruption

The environment of corruption influences the variations and unpredictability in the nature of a job, leading to diverse outcomes that significantly change gameplay dynamics or introducing unexpected elements compared to the typical expectations for a particular job.

In simpler terms, the level of corruption directly influences the discovery of uncommon materials during work tasks. The greater the corruption (the more “ducks” there are), the higher the chance of finding these rare items. However, it’s important to note that corruption can only be involved in jobs requiring a Level 3 Clearance.

Threat

In summary, the level of danger in the battle depends on the Threat Level, which can be set to Easy, Normal, Hard, or Extreme. As the Threat Level increases, Hiss enemies will appear in greater numbers and with higher frequency, and they’ll also bring stronger allies into the fray. Although this doesn’t change the potential loot, it does award you more Experience Points.

You have full freedom to customize the Challenge, Risk, and Integrity aspects of your task according to your preferred intensity level. Whether you’re interested in a lengthier Level 3 job with straightforward combat or a brief yet challenging Level 1 with an Extreme Risk, the choice is yours.
