Miley Cyrus’ sibling and musician Trace Cyrus recently sparked controversy on Instagram with a series of comments that reinforced his transphobic views and earned him the label of being insensitive or unkind.
Trace Who?
The 36-year-old musician, who goes by the name Trace Cyrus, isn’t new to lengthy discussions on various topics, including his father Billy Ray Cyrus, UFOs, support for Donald Trump, and his ex-girlfriend Brenda Song from the Disney Channel. However, his recent public comments have escalated into a controversy: He has been criticizing fellow musician Machine Gun Kelly (MGK). If the animosity had remained a personal matter between them, it would be acceptable, but the situation worsened when Trace Cyrus began comparing himself to MGK and this comparison triggered fan comparisons between him and Trace Cyrus’ brother, also a musician named Trace Cyrus.
Unfortunately, this comparison led to unwarranted attacks and drew in innocent people, including children, which is unacceptable. Involving children in such disputes is clearly crossing the line.
Delusional From The Start
In the opening act, Trace Cyrus sets off a controversial statement that, to put it mildly, seems rather unwise. This statement not only contains homophobic sentiments but also serves as self-promotion and demonstrates his disconnection from reality. He posits an idea where if he were less masculine, perhaps adorning nail polish or dressing in a more “gay” style, he would be hailed as the greatest artist ever. The statement is presented as factual by Cyrus himself, as he further explains his perspective.
- He’s a better songwriter
- He’s better looking
- He’s been around way longer than all these others
- He’s more unique in all aspects of his life
Indeed, it is accurate. This is the reason why others should refrain from comparing him, as many have adopted his unique style.
Calling Out Names – Refuses To Elaborate
Instead of saying “Of course, that’s not enough for him, and he gets caught in a downward spiral,” you could rephrase it as: “He always seems to need more, and he ends up spiraling.”
In the second part, instead of “This time, he addresses Machine Gun Kelly directly, speculating about why rapper Diddy has only signed MGK to his label in the last 10 years,” you could say: “He now openly criticizes Machine Gun Kelly and questions why Diddy has only recently taken him under his wing.”
“Diddy stands accused of numerous grave crimes, such as human trafficking, forced labor, and kidnapping, but he maintains his innocence.”
For the third part, instead of “Cyrus comments disparagingly on MGK’s membership in Diddy’s label for a while, but quickly seeks out a new target,” you could write: “He criticizes MGK for being part of Diddy’s team for a while, but soon moves on to other targets.”
Finally, instead of “By now, everyone has probably realized that Trace Cyrus lives in a dream world and is probably angry that he isn’t even part of it,” you could say: “It’s likely clear by now that Trace Cyrus exists in his own fantasy realm, and he might be upset because he’s not included.”
Lastly, instead of “So now he’s attacking Machine Gun Kelly’s family in his sweeping attack, and that really went too far,” you could rephrase it as: “Now, he’s gone a step too far by targeting MGK’s family during his broad assault.
Collateral Damage Hits The Wrong Ones
It’s worth mentioning that Megan Fox, who gained global recognition as a former actress, has openly discussed her parenting experiences on multiple occasions. Specifically, she has spoken about her eldest son, who is now 12 years old. This child has enjoyed wearing dresses since he was just two years old. He’s faced teasing at school about it, but remains determined to continue dressing in this manner. Fox has discussed with him how he can express himself through his clothing choices, emphasizing that there is no sexual connotation involved in this choice.
In this situation, Trace Cyrus uses the occasion to express transphobic sentiments. During his outburst, he derides MGK for allegedly having a wonderful woman who’s bringing up her kids as transgender – despite this being completely untrue.
Most people tend to understand that it’s okay not to like everyone, but crossing the line by spreading false information about children, particularly strangers, is undeniably overstepping boundaries.
What’s your opinion on the matter? Are you familiar with Miley Cyrus’ brother, given his tendency to make controversial remarks?
