In a recent chat, Amanda Seyfried voiced her opinions about Hollywood’s frequent production of sequel films. Interestingly, the 39-year-old starlet was recently confirmed to resume her role from Ted 2 in an upcoming Ted sequel series airing on Peacock.
Amanda Seyfried comments on Hollywood making sequels
Recently, Amanda Seyfried and Rachel Brosnahan had a chat together for Interview Magazine. They talked about their individual careers, with Brosnahan sharing insights on her role as Lois Lane in James Gunn’s version of Superman.
During their conversation, the idea of Hollywood producing follow-up films came up, prompting Seyfried to voice her opinions on the matter. “Sequels have a touch of weariness,” she said, emphasizing her preference for “fresh ideas.” She went on to say that creating original content is “quite intimidating and courageous” and that “it’s not intimidating or particularly courageous to make sequels.
Seyfried initially expressed that sequels are primarily produced for financial gain and found the process to be aggravating. Yet, despite this initial viewpoint, she stated that she would eagerly participate in “Mamma Mia! 3” immediately.
In response, Brosnahan expressed her readiness for a sequel of Superman, stating that both she and the entire team “really enjoyed” working on the initial film. Furthermore, she mentioned there are many cast members with whom she didn’t collaborate yet. The actress playing The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel added this as a point of interest.
In a recent chat with Adam Brody for Actors on Actors, I shared some exciting news – it seems like a sequel to our 2009 horror comedy Jennifer’s Body is in the works!
