Over the past seven days, Sony shared a cozy discussion and corporate overview, outlining the achievements and upcoming strategies of its diverse divisions. Unsurprisingly, gaming was included, and it was revealed that for the first instance, the PlayStation 5 now boasts more monthly active users than the PS4.
During Sony’s 2025 business presentation and a follow-up chat, Hideaki Nishino, President and CEO of Sony Interactive, disclosed key aspects of the company’s status, including its past performance, current situation, and future strategies. Notably, it was revealed that there are approximately 124 million monthly active users worldwide across the PS4 and PS5 platforms. This figure is significant on its own, but what makes it stand out is that for the first time, the number of PS5 users has surpassed that of the PS4. Previously, in last year’s business presentation, the user bases for both consoles were roughly equal.
President Nishino expressed great excitement about the consistent expansion of gamers on Sony’s platforms, particularly the increasing trend toward the PlayStation 5.
After all these years, it’s fascinating to witness the PS5 finally outpacing the PS4 in terms of player engagement. It’s clear evidence of the resilience and enduring popularity of the PS4. Keep an eye on our PlayStation updates for the latest news and insights.
