Blake Lively vs. Justin Baldoni May Still Turn Against Her, LA Lawyers Say

Despite Blake Lively apparently securing a court victory this week, legal professionals in Los Angeles suggest that her case with Justin Baldoni is still a long way from being resolved. On June 9th, a judge dismissed Baldoni’s $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds. However, lawyers have expressed concerns that Blake Lively’s own claims against Baldoni could encounter significant obstacles moving forward.

Legal insiders say Blake Lively’s case could face strategic challenges

For the past six months, Blake Lively has been at the heart of a heated legal dispute following her filing of a lawsuit in December 2024, alleging sexual harassment against her co-star from ‘It Ends With Us’, Justin Baldoni, and initiating a damaging campaign. A court ruling issued on Monday partially dismissed some of Baldoni’s strongest accusations against Lively, but legal analysts suggest that both parties find themselves in the midst of an intricate, unresolved lawsuit.

Experienced lawyer Omar Serrato, a veteran in courtrooms, feels that this situation may stretch on for some time. “I don’t believe it will end anytime soon,” he stated to The Daily Mail, “I think there’s still a lot of ground left to cover.

Previously this year, Baldoni and his production team filed a counterclaim, which Judge Lewis J. Liman rejected entirely, including three charges: tortious interference with contract, breach of implied agreement, and these last two charges may be re-filed in the future.

In simpler terms, Serrato expressed his surprise at the judge’s decision, stating, “I had anticipated that Judge Liman would wait until after the discovery process to make a ruling.” Additionally, he noted that Baldoni has the option to appeal, and it seems like the decision could potentially face appellate review.

From Lively’s perspective, the legal path appears uncertain as well. Serrato highlighted court records containing affectionate emails and messages between Lively and Baldoni, which might make her harassment allegations more intricate. In May 2023, Lively penned an email expressing gratitude for their accomplishments so far and thanking Baldoni for his deep concern and dedication to showing it. Not long after, Baldoni texted her saying, “I won’t tell you that you were amazing because you tease me for being sentimental – but you were amazing today.

According to celebrity attorney Christopher Melcher, given the challenges both parties are encountering, the case might not endure for much longer. Despite a scheduled court hearing in March 2026, he expresses doubt that it will make it to trial.
