Blake Lively Issues Subpoena to Scooter Braun Amid Justin Baldoni Legal Battle — Report

It appears that Blake Lively has summoned Scooter Braun for records, as part of her persistent legal dispute with Justin Baldoni, the director of “It Ends With Us.” The summons requests documents and details concerning a suspected defamatory campaign against Lively, following her assertions of sexual harassment.

Blake Lively subpoenas Scooter Braun in connection to Justin Baldoni’s lawsuit

On June 10th, Scooter Braun’s company, HYBE America, received a summons notice. Documents will be served to Blake Lively’s legal team on June 12th. Later reports indicated that not only HYBE America but also Scooter Braun himself were both summoned with a subpoena.

The action follows the dismissal of a $400 million defamation lawsuit filed by Justin Baldoni against Blake Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and their publicist, which occurred on June 9. This legal case, initially scheduled for trial in March 2026, revolves around Lively’s accusations that Baldoni behaved inappropriately towards her during the production of It Ends With Us, and subsequently retaliated by organizing a damaging public relations campaign against her.

It appears that Braun’s connection arises because HYBE America, his company, holds a significant share in The Agency Group (TAG). This agency is led by Melissa Nathan, and Lively’s lawsuit alleges that Nathan helped Baldoni spread harmful stories about Lively as retaliation for her speaking out. The subpoena intends to discover any correspondence or documents related to Nathan’s suspected involvement in the smear campaign that may be in Braun or HYBE America’s possession.

According to some filings, Braun’s involvement seems less central and more indirect. The only reference to Braun is from a former publicist’s text message in August 2024, which stated “At least they didn’t mention Scooter,” suggesting that Baldoni did not involve TAG (presumably managed by Braun) during the film’s production controversy. (as reported by Deadline)

The court documents contain conversations that hint at planning to spread stories implying the manipulation of feminism as a weapon. Additionally, there’s a connection drawn between Lively and Taylor Swift, who has had public disputes with Braun in the past. Interestingly, Swift was issued a subpoena in this very case, but Baldoni’s team later chose to retract the summons.

Following the dismissal of much of Baldoni’s counterclaim, Lively’s legal team is aggressively pursuing evidence for her allegations. A subpoena issued to Braun might uncover essential details regarding the purported PR retaliation, thereby influencing the progression of this high-profile court case.
