Ozzy Osbourne blocked from perfect role in classic Disney franchise

Legendary rocker Ozzy Osbourne is nearing the end of his live performance career. On July 5th, he’s set to give his last solo concert, as well as what appears to be a farewell show with his original band, Black Sabbath.

One lesser-known facet of Ozzy’s illustrious career was his potential acting talent. Although he has appeared in commercials and a few movies, it’s possible that he could have been ideal for a widely beloved Disney series, but the opportunity never materialized. Unfortunately, Sharon, his wife and manager, nixed the idea.

In preparation for Ozzy’s last concert, Sharon shared in an interview with Music Business Worldwide that her biggest business-related regret was declining an opportunity for Ozzy to appear in the Pirates of the Caribbean movie series.

Ozzy Osbourne missed out on a chance to be in Pirates of the Caribbean

Sharon stated, “The greatest blunder I made concerning Ozzy was when they suggested he audition for ‘Pirates of the Caribbean.’ I responded, ‘Get lost.’ Hard to believe, but he would have been fantastic in that role.

It wasn’t clear what part Ozzy might have taken or if he was definitively cast in the movie, but imagine the chemistry between him and Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow – it would have been simply amazing! Depp has mentioned that he modeled his character on Rolling Stones guitarist Keith Richards.

Movie-goers could have experienced an actor mimicking Richards’ style, acting alongside the actual Ozzy Osbourne. It might have been over-the-top and comical, but considering that the Pirates of the Caribbean series is known for its silliness and camp, it would have fit right in – this is a key aspect of the franchise’s appeal.

Regarding the actual event, Ozzy and Black Sabbath’s “Back to the Beginning” concert is set to take place in their hometown of Birmingham, England, specifically at Villa Park on July 5th. Notable bands such as Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Gokira, Halestorm, Alice in Chains, Lamb of God, Anthrax, Mastadon, and several others will accompany them during this show.

For a cost of $29.99, fans can watch the event live online by navigating to the official concert website. Unfortunately, tickets for attending the event in person are no longer available as they have been sold out well in advance.
