This year, InZoi, a rival game to The Sims by Krafton, attracted a massive number of players at its launch. However, since then, the number of simultaneous users playing the game has significantly decreased.
Currently, the number of players enjoying the game simultaneously is about 98% less than its maximum recorded player count. This reduction has led some to suggest that the Early Access life simulator may be on its last legs, but this assertion seems premature given its ambitious 2025 roadmap.
Although the number of players on Steam may appear to be decreasing, Krafton encourages gamers not to jump to conclusions. The declining player count doesn’t tell the full story, as the game is still managing to sell a significant number of new copies. Therefore, it would be more beneficial for players to focus on this aspect.
The game publisher stated to IGN that “inZOI consistently increases its sales, and since it’s a single-player title, it would be more fitting to discuss the number of additional sales at each major update rather than the number of simultaneous players on Steam when evaluating the game’s success.
After an impressive debut, InZoi hasn’t been sailing smoothly. Upon its initial release, it encountered significant problems, such as a contentious glitch enabling players to run over digital kids. Moreover, there have been setbacks in delivering the game’s primary update and mod toolkit.
As a devoted fan, I firmly believe that InZoi’s foundation is robust and consistent updates over the years could transform it into a formidable rival to The Sims. However, another potential competitor, Paralives, is slated for release later this year. If Paralives delivers high-quality gameplay, it might pose a challenge to InZoi’s standing in the market.
In a chat with VideoGamer recently, Hyungjun “Kjun” Kim, who is both the director, producer, and CEO, shared an interesting piece of information: The game is performing better than the studio initially anticipated, despite showing fewer simultaneous players on Steam.
Kim expressed appreciation for the player reaction, which surpassed expectations, stating, ‘Our players aren’t mere consumers; they’re integral members of our team, working together towards a common goal.’ The backing and faith they show us serve as significant motivators, fueling our development efforts.
Despite a relatively calm period over the past few months for InZoi, there’s optimism that the game will progress positively in terms of quality and number of players as time advances.
