From a spectacular debut, Infinity Nikki has enjoyed significant success, but its journey since launch hasn’t been without challenges. Debuting on PC, mobile devices, and exclusively on the PS5 console, the visually striking open-world fashion game has encountered performance problems, bugs, and ongoing debates about its monetization strategies.
Despite limited discussion about future monetization strategies for InFold’s free-to-play open-world game, it provides an exceptional experience unmatched by others. In a recent interview with VideoGamer, the team remained tight-lipped about monetization altogether but did express their intentions to expand the game onto additional platforms in the future.
Could Infinty Nikki come to Nintendo Switch 2?
After the contentious launch of version 1.5, which included outfits only accessible through multiple gacha draws and other inconveniences, the InFold team spoke with VideoGamer about possible strategies for expanding their game onto additional platforms.
Currently, Infinity Nikki is bound by a six-month agreement exclusively for PlayStation, meaning it can’t debut on other platforms until at least half a year after its initial release. The development team, though, is primarily engaged in resolving the technical glitches affecting the mobile, PC, and PS5 editions of the game before they consider expanding to additional platforms due to the need to manage multiple versions concurrently.
Currently, we’re focusing on enhancing and improving the places where the game is currently being played.
INFINITY NIKKI DEVELOPER INFOLD
Despite their assertion that “new platforms will indeed be part of our future—once we’re sure the base is solid and the user experience is flawless”, InFold acknowledged that the game’s performance isn’t yet satisfactory for a Nintendo Switch 2 port. They emphasized that enhancing the player experience on existing platforms is their priority at this time.
The studio emphasized that their cross-platform approach consistently prioritizes the player’s enjoyment above all else. At present, they are focusing on optimizing and enhancing the platforms where the game is currently available, aiming to boost performance, eliminate glitches, and introduce substantial content upgrades.
According to InFold, it’s crucial for all platforms to ensure they provide the optimal version of Infinity Nikki, but at present, this isn’t happening. Major updates on PS5 often coincide with returning performance problems in gacha menus and outfit modifications, and there are persistent bugs that are challenging to eradicate.
In the days ahead, you might find Infinity Nikki accessible on various devices. Given that it’s technically playable on mobile devices, despite its somewhat flashy performance, it seems reasonable to anticipate a version for a potential Switch 2.
