Michael Tait admits to leading ‘two different lives’ a ‘confession’ post

On the 10th of June, Michael Tait confessed in an Instagram post titled “My Confession.” In this post, he openly spoke about his past struggles with drug abuse and inappropriate sexual advances towards men.

In his post, Tait admitted to using and misusing cocaine for about twenty years, drinking excessive amounts of alcohol, and at times inappropriately touching men in a sensual manner. He stated that he didn’t make any excuses, further explaining, “Although I might challenge some specific details in the accusations directed at me, I do not contest the core of them.” Additionally, he admitted to leading two significantly different lives for the majority of that time.

Back in January 2025, I found myself unexpectedly parting ways with the Newsboys, a decision that left quite an impact. Then, on June 4th, The Roys Report unveiled shocking allegations against me. Three individuals came forward, accusing me of assault during tours back in 2004, 2010, and 2014. Two claimed I became overly familiar after we’d been drinking, while one alleged an instance of non-consensual touching when I had invited him to share a bed with me. These allegations have left me reflecting deeply on my past actions.

In a June 5 statement, the Newsboys expressed their shock, sorrow, and fury, stating they felt betrayed for the past fifteen years. Following the revelation of the story, K-LOVE and other Christian radio networks temporarily halted airplay for Newsboys and DC Talk songs.

Earlier this year, Tait sought help at a treatment center in Utah and has remained sober since then. In his own words, “I acknowledge the repercussions of my mistake and am dedicated to persevering with the challenging task of making amends and healing.” He ended by expressing regret for any pain he may have caused others.
