It came as a surprise that Microsoft’s main Halo series didn’t make an appearance at the recent Xbox Games Showcase last week. Although Xbox head Phil Spencer hinted at the upcoming release of the Halo: Combat Evolved Remake for next year, there was no mention or demonstration of the franchise during the gaming event.
It appears that a new Halo game may be on its way soon as it’s set to make its PlayStation debut later this year. A well-known data miner for the franchise has found hints of a PlayStation 5 version within the series’ API.
Halo PS5 port coming soon
As a devoted fan, I stumbled upon some intriguing findings! The insightful Grunt.API, known for his near-flawless track record, has uncovered hints suggesting a potential Halo port for PS5. In the past, this dataminer has leaked updates, hidden content, and accurately predicted player numbers across the entire series, making these recent discoveries even more compelling.
According to the dataminer’s explanation, the Halo retail API now includes a PlayStation 5 version of one Halo game, although the specific title coming to the console remains unknown. However, as per the leaker’s information, the port carries a fresh ID and they aren’t confident that it’s Halo: The Master Chief Collection.
It’s possible that Halo Infinite, the latest installment in the Halo series, may be coming to PlayStation 5 later in the year. Although there hasn’t been an official announcement of a release date yet, it appears that developers at 343 Industries have been working on a version of Halo for the PS5.

Although a Halo port for PS5 has been found, there’s no indication yet about a Halo series port for the rumored Nintendo Switch 2. This is surprising given Microsoft’s repeated promises to support the upcoming Nintendo handheld with exclusive releases, only for the PS5. Similarly, it’s worth noting that Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 has not been confirmed for the new console, even though it was previously released on Xbox One and PS4.
Despite the upcoming releases of Forza Horizon 5 on PS5 and Gears of War on Xbox, it seems illogical to limit Halo exclusively to Xbox. After a challenging period for the franchise, introducing the game to PlayStation 5 could provide the much-needed boost to help Halo regain its prominence as a major player in the gaming world once more.
