The movie titled Kuberaa, with Dhanush and Nagarjuna Akkineni in prominent roles, is set to premiere on June 20, 2025. In anticipation of its theater debut, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) carried out censorship on June 9, 2025.
Kuberaa gets censored
According to the ratings board, the highly anticipated film has been given a UA13+ classification and runs for approximately 195 minutes. Essentially, this movie clocks in at around three hours and fifteen minutes when you include the intermission.
As a fervent admirer, I can’t help but share my anticipation over the forthcoming film. Whispers abound that the creators are considering a runtime of less than three hours to ensure a snug fit. Yet, an authoritative declaration remains elusive.

The film featuring Dhanush and Nagarjuna Akkineni is reportedly centered around a beggar’s unexpected transformation from poverty to pursuing riches. However, this newfound wealth may bring about repercussions. The movie delves into the complexities of greed, ambition, and the ethical dilemmas experienced by the characters.

Beyond its main stars, Kuberaa boasts a talented group of actors including Rashmika Mandanna, Jim Sarbh, Dalip Tahil, and others. This film, uniquely produced in Tamil, Telugu, and Hindi languages, is the work of director Sekhar Kammula, who collaborated with Chaithanya Pingali on its screenplay.
It’s worth noting that Suniel Narang, one of the producers of the movie, has been in the spotlight lately as he disclosed that they are under pressure to premiere Kuberraa in June because of the streaming platform Amazon Prime Video.

In discussions with the team behind a highly anticipated production, I’ve learned that their influence extends far and wide, shaping every aspect of the project according to their vision. Eager for a July release, I humbly requested Amazon Prime Video to accommodate this timing due to potential post-production delays. However, they graciously informed me that they would be obliged to reduce the production budget by 100 crore rupees if the scheduled 20th of June release date were not adhered to as planned.
Regarding Dhanush’s upcoming projects, he will be starring in a drama film titled Idly Kadai, which he himself is directing. This is his fourth directorial venture. The movie features notable actors such as Nithya Menen, Arun Vijay, and Rajkiran in significant roles. Idly Kadai is scheduled to hit the screens on October 1, 2025.
Additionally, the actor has upcoming projects such as “Tere Ishk Mein” and a yet-to-be-officially-titled film called “Dhanush 56” on the horizon.
Conversely, Nagarjuna Akkineni is set to take on a significant part in the upcoming film “Coolie,” starring Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj.
