Mortal Shell 2 announced at Summer Games Fest, and it’s the most metal thing I’ve ever seen in my life

If you ever believed video games couldn’t become more exciting, Mortal Shell 2 is set to change our perspectives. Building upon the foundation of its slightly average predecessor, developer Cold Symmetry returns with an enticing new sequel that surpasses expectations for how amazing it appears.

Mortal Shell 2 is effortlessly cool

At the Summer Games Fest, Mortal Shell 2 was unveiled as a Soulslike action game for contemporary platforms. Notably, developer Cold Symmetry has not only enhanced every facet of the initial game but also created what appears to be the coolest, most intense gaming experience I’ve ever witnessed in my lifetime.

commencing with Geoff Keighley’s annual gaming extravaganza, a thrilling, hard-metal interpretation of the Soulslike genre is unveiled in the premiere trailer for Mortal Shell 2. The creatures are skeletal, there are colossal monsters with heads resembling Bib Fortuna that you can pummel and destroy with brute force, and there are guns to fire.

As I’m typing this, there’s not much info available yet about the upcoming sequel, but from what I’ve glimpsed so far, it’s clear that it will take a while before anything comes along to stir up my long-lost 15-year-old self who devoured Kerrang magazines. In other words, this game looks like it’s going to be a blast from the past!

As a gaming enthusiast, I’m thrilled to share that I’ve learned Mortal Shell 2 is expected to drop in 2026, gracing the screens of PlayStation 5, Xbox Series, and PC platforms. Regrettably, there’s no word yet on whether it’ll be available for Nintendo Switch 2. Keep your fingers crossed!
