3 new album releases that should not be missed on Friday (June 6, 2025)

Every Friday, I eagerly anticipate the arrival of fresh tunes, a tradition that’s replaced the excitement of Tuesdays. It feels like the music industry and merchandisers have caught onto our preference for unwinding with new beats during the weekend.

In addition, June is packed with fresh releases, making it feel like the perfect season with the car windows rolled back and music playing loud. What could enhance this summer vibe more than an abundance of new albums.

Perhaps you’re working daily and seeking entertainment for your headphones. In any case, the new releases this Friday are definitely worth checking out.

Three new albums that you should be listening to on Friday

Pulp – More

Legendary Britpop acts Pulp (who, it should be noted, never strictly fell under that subgenre but were simply a label-less band) have made their grand return after a hiatus of 12 years without any new music and 24 years without an album release. There was little expectation they would ever come back to the scene.

Rather than opting for something less astute, the follow-up offers equally captivating tunes on the album titled “More“. The debut single “Spike Island” set high expectations, and it indeed met them. The album, brimming with Pulp’s distinctive charm, surpassed even our initial anticipations.

Lil Wayne – Tha Carter VI

This new release is a comeback from Lil Wayne, who hasn’t put out a record since 2020. It’s also his first album in the Roman numeral series since 2018. It embodies contemporary hip-hop elements, featuring numerous collaborations, but what truly sets it apart is the signature style that made Lil Wayne a musical legend.

He’s undoubtedly a legendary figure in rap music, yet he’s known for experimenting with his sounds. You can hear elements of rock and New Orleans-style jazz, as well as numerous other influences. However, it’s the iconic lyrics that truly stand out. The collaboration with U2’s Bono on “The Days” was a stroke of genius, making it worth repeated listens.

Turnstile – Never Enough

One might say that Turnstile is an underestimated rock band of the past ten years or so. They deliver a stellar performance on stage, but their studio albums are equally impressive and triumphant. Their latest album, Never Enough, is just another testament to their consistently high-quality work.

The subtleties aren’t lost, yet it lacks a lethargic vibe. It’s got a strong presence, but it’s not overwhelmingly chaotic. Moreover, there are plenty of catchy elements that make you want to listen to the album continuously from your preferred music platform or vinyl record player.
