For the first time in years, Elden Ring Nightreign by FromSoftware has prioritized online multiplayer as a key element of its gameplay, offering a 3-player cooperative roguelike experience where teamwork and communication are essential for success. However, Nightreign appears to be only the beginning for this game developer, with The Duskbloods, another multiplayer-centric title, set to follow soon. But before The Duskbloods hits the stores, it should take note of some valuable lessons gleaned from Nightreign’s debut.
What Elden Ring Nightreign Should Teach The Duskbloods
The Bloodsworn Need to Feel Just as Distinct as The Nightfarers
As a gamer immersed in the world of Elden Ring: Nightreign, one thing that truly sets it apart is the diverse array of eight Nightfarer classes. Each Nightfarer I’ve chosen comes armed with a unique weapon expertise and initial weapon, not to mention a specialized toolkit brimming with a Character Skill, a passive perk, and an overpowering Ultimate Art.
In Nightreign, each of the Nightfarers stands out uniquely from the start, enriching the game’s roguelike cycle with plenty of diversity. Each class invites players to test fresh tactics, handle unique weapons, and dabble in playstyles that could be uncommon in a conventional Soulslike journey.
In the game “The Duskbloods”, developed by FromSoftware, creator Hidetaka Miyazaki has confirmed that more than a dozen character classes will be available. These characters are called Bloodsworn, and they appear to be adopting a similar style to the Nightfarers. Each Bloodsworn seems to have its own collection of weapons and skills, as well as distinct customization options.
The Duskbloods Needs to be Fun Without a Group
Despite the fact that Elden Ring Nightreign offers a single-player mode, it’s not particularly enjoyable due to its challenging nature. Although enemy health and damage are reduced, the sheer number of enemies makes the solo experience extremely tough because it appears that most encounters were created with three players in mind.

Additionally, the randomness inherent to “Nightreign‘s” gameplay loop results in an experience that tends to be imbalanced overall.
In simpler terms, upon completing a game of “The Duskbloods“, the player will be given Victory Points. These points aren’t just for cosmetic changes but also to enhance their Bloodsworn characters in a more structured, conventional way, providing a fulfilling progression system.
