The Institute Release Date Set for New Stephen King Show Starring Ben Barnes

MGM+ has officially revealed the launch date for its upcoming series based on Stephen King’s 2019 sci-fi horror novel “The Institute”. The narrative revolves around kids who possess telepathic powers, as they are kidnapped and transported to a hidden facility where researchers conduct experiments on them.

The show’s plot revolves around Luke Ellis, a brilliant teen who is abducted and ends up at The Institute, a place filled with kids like him, each having extraordinary powers. Meanwhile, in a nearby town, retired police officer Tim Jamieson seeks tranquility but won’t find it for long as his path crosses with that of Luke Ellis.

When is The Institute release date?

On July 13, 2025, at 9:00 p.m., I’ll be counting down the hours until The Institute premieres, exclusively on MGM+. I can hardly wait to see the incredible cast bring their characters to life! Mary-Louise Parker will embody Ms. Sigsby, Ben Barnes takes on Tim Jamieson, Joe Freeman steps into Luke Ellis’s shoes, Simone Miller becomes Kalisha, Fionn Laird portrays Nick, Hannah Galway will be Wendy, Julian Richings is Stackhouse, Robert Joy brings Dr. Hendricks to the screen, and Martin Roach takes on Chief Ashworth. It’s going to be an unforgettable experience!

The show is led in both executive production and direction by Jack Bender, who’s known for Mr. Mercedes. Additionally, Benjamin Cavell (The Stand) collaborated with another writer on the script. Stephen King is among the executive producers, along with Benjamin Cavell, Gary Barber, Sam Sheridan, and Ed Redlich. This production comes from Amazon MGM Studios.
