Enthusiasts of the critically praised science fiction drama series on Netflix, The OA, might be in for good news following actor Jason Isaacs‘ recent optimistic statement about Season 3 of the canceled program. The show initially aired in 2016, and unfortunately, Netflix decided to end it after only two seasons in 2019. Since then, supporters of the franchise have been eagerly anticipating a potential reversal of Netflix’s decision to terminate the show, but so far, there has been no progress. However, things could potentially improve soon, according to Isaacs.
Jason Isaacs teases The OA Season 3 possibility on Netflix after it got canceled
In a recent interview, the actor known for playing Dr. Hap Percy in The OA (a role he took on after his time in the Harry Potter series), mentioned that the minds behind the cancelled Netflix show are still working out how to wrap up the story in an appropriate way.
During an interview on Jo Whiley’s BBC radio show, Jason Isaacs hinted at the potential of The OA Season 3 by saying “That story cannot end there.” He further mentioned that he recently had dinner with Zal Batmanglij and Brit Marling in Los Angeles, and they are all determined to continue the story. However, he couldn’t reveal more details because they are committed to keeping it alive rather than due to any secrecy.
Beyond collaborating with Zal Batmanglij on The OA’s creation, Brit Marling took on the role of the main character, Prairie Johnson (formerly known as The Original Angel), for Netflix before the show was discontinued following two seasons. The series centers around the enigmatic disappearance and miraculous return of Prairie, who lost her sight prior to vanishing but mysteriously regained it upon coming back. However, what appears to be a miracle hides a far more ominous secret beneath its surface.
Although Jason Isaacs recently shared some encouraging news, Netflix hasn’t officially announced anything about the renewal of The OA as of yet.
