Ballerina’s Rotten Tomatoes Score Is Lower Than All John Wick Movies

In theaters across the United States starting this coming Friday, June 6, 2025, the film “Ballerina” has received generally favorable feedback from critics and a satisfactory rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, it may not quite reach the level of acclaim as some installments within the John Wick series. The story revolves around Ana de Armas’ character Eve Macarro, a ballerina who transitions into training as an assassin in her quest for vengeance.

What critic reviews are saying about John Wick spin-off, Ballerina

Jonathan Sim, from ComingSoon, rated Ballerina as a 9 out of 10 and commented that it’s another exceptional addition to this series. He particularly appreciated the action scenes and pointed out how it delves deeper into the world hinted at in John Wick 3, when John Wick sought aid from The Director (Anjelica Huston), who oversees the crime syndicate The Ruska Roma ballet.

As a devoted admirer, I can say that according to Rachel LaBonte of Screen Rant, Ballerina didn’t quite meet the “lofty expectations established by its predecessors.” However, she did enjoy the experience of watching it unfold.

As stated by Brian Truitt from USA Today, “There’s no longer a necessity to pine for a female James Bond or a lady Wick; instead, let’s anticipate a movie that solely focuses on the character of Eve.

In his review for TheWrap, William Bibbiani expressed that the film “Ballerina” was disorganized with an unengaging narrative. Yet, he acknowledged that the action scenes were thrilling and the movie had an authentic humor woven throughout its peculiar battles unto death.
