Why Did Yulissa Escobar Leave Love Island USA Season 7? Exit Explained

Yulissa Escobar’s stay on Love Island USA Season 7 was unexpectedly brief, as she departed only a day following the season premiere. Fans barely had a chance to become acquainted with her before the series announced her departure in Episode 2. There was no tearful goodbye or dramatic send-off; instead, her exit was sudden and mysterious, leaving many fans curious about the true reason behind it.

Yulissa Escobar’s potential reason to leave Love Island USA Season 7 explained

In the seventh season of Love Island USA, Yulissa Escobar’s departure occurred following an uproar caused by old podcast clips where she utilized racial slurs. TMZ uncovered recordings showing her repeatedly using the N-word in discussions about past relationships, sparking strong criticism from viewers. Social media platforms were inundated with calls for her dismissal from the show and promises to vote her off as soon as the opportunity presented itself. It appears that producers responded to this outcry.

Although Love Island USA Season 7 didn’t provide a comprehensive reason for Yulissa’s departure, the timing seems to suggest that it was self-explanatory. The show hinted at her exit subtly when, around the 17th minute of Episode 2, narrator Iain Stirling merely announced, “Yulissa has left the villa.” It is unknown whether Yulissa chose to leave Love Island USA or if she was asked to go by the producers. However, considering the increasing controversy, it appears her departure was a reaction to the negative feedback. Notably, she has not made any public statement about the matter.

On previous occasions, Love Island franchises have faced controversies involving their contestants. Just recently, the UK edition removed one of its participants. Similarly, Kyle Ashman, who was once linked to a machete attack incident but maintained his innocence, was also asked to depart from the show.

Currently, following Escobar’s departure, the Islander women consist of Chelley Bissainthe, Huda Mustafa, Belle-A Walker, and Olandria Carthen. The male contestants are Ace Greene, Taylor Williams, Nicolas Vansteenberghe, and Jeremiah Brown. On the very first night, the newcomers Cierra Ortega and Charlie Georgiou made a dramatic entrance, causing quite a stir.

Under the guidance of Vanderpump Rules celebrity Ariana Madix, Love Island USA’s seventh season made its debut on June 3, following a temporary setback due to technical difficulties, exclusively on Peacock. The reality series persists as singles strive for love and a $100,000 reward.
